It was founded in 1993 by Gary Young and is doing very well today. YOUNG LIVING ESSENTIAL OILS has higher quality oils then what you will find at your local health food store. There are many other companies, like NOW ESSENTIAL OILS who sell oils that some people have claimed are diluted. None of them have the “best” of all the oils or an exclusive on 100% therapeutic grade essential oils. While one does have to be very careful in selecting their oils, there are other companies who do offer high quality oils at prices much lower than a network marketing company can offer. Therapeutic grade oils are not usually sold in retail stores and it is believed that over 90% of the “essential oils” sold in the U.S. are fragrance or food grade and unsuitable for healing. NOW ESSENTIAL OILS sells cheaper oils but they aren’t pure oils. They also make the claim that it is impossible to make an organic essential oil. Organic oils are taken from organically grown plants and are a pure, unadulterated, therapeutic grade oil. They have no other additives. Check the labels of any oils you buy. If they list more ingredients than the essential oil or refuse to list their ingredients, don’t buy it for therapeutic use. It has been adulterated if a cheaper oil has been added to “stretch” the use or, even worse, a synthetic has been added to lower the cost and extend the life. NOW ESSENTIAL OILS have additives to extend the life of their oils and to allow for a lower cost. YOUNG LIVING ESSENTIAL OILS is a Multi Level Marketing (MLM) company. They have had great success with this, as have many other companies who have followed this course. The oils they sell are good oils but because of the nature of the company, the prices are higher to pay the down lines.
