It has been praised for its virtues since antiquity. Assists in strengthening the heart, stimulates circulation and the immune system. It has been used for centuries in Europe for bronchial ailments, a general lung tonic, a stimulant for the lymphatic system (especially to detoxify after an illness), indigestion, gas, and to stimulate the appetite. As a urinary antiseptic it may assist cystitis. It improves dull and congested skin, psoriasis, and anemia. It is a tonic to the liver and spleen, controls uric acid, favors pepsin and hydrochloric acid production, restores sense of smell, fatigue, migraine, nervous tension and stress-related disorders. May be antispasmodic, diuretic, expectorant, and may have bactericidal and fungicidal properties. Beneficial for contagious diseases such as typhus, malaria, diphtheria, cholera, and yellow fever. Been used to bring the memory back to the point of origin before trauma or anger was experienced. Assists in releasing or let go of negative feelings. It promotes feelings of balance, assists with heartache, gives incentive to overcome difficulties, causes distaste for alcohol.
