We always recommend diluting essential oils with a carrier oil like Fractionated Coconut Oil (FCO)  when applied topically on the skin.  Benefits of safe dilution include:

  • Increased absorption into the skin

Essential oils are highly volatile substances.  If applied directly to the skin, a portion of the oil will not be absorbed due to evaporation.  Carrier oils prevent essential oils from evaporating while on the skin, which maximizes absorption time.

  • Prevention of skin irritation or sensitivity to the Essential Oil

Depending on your skin sensitivity, you may experience skin irritation when applying essential oils topically.  Proper dilution reduces the likelihood of skin irritation when an oil is used topically.  Continued use of an essential oil that has not been diluted properly can lead to a developed sensitivity to the oil.  Even if an oil is not causing a reaction when applied undiluted, irreversible damage may occur through repeated exposure.

  • Maximizes the effectiveness of the Essential Oil

Essential oils are so pure and potent, they are intended to be diluted.  Contrary to popular belief, using an oil undiluted does not necessarily mean you will receive better results.  Unless you are using an undiluted oil under the supervision of a trained professional, you will receive maximum benefits from an oil if it is diluted appropriately.  You will also get more applications out of one bottle if you dilute the essential oil when applying topically.

I am a little confused. You are calling this a "carrier oil" yet I see in the information about it, it includes dilution , as if it is an essential oil. Does this need to be diluted or can it be used as is as a carrier oil for other essential oils? Thank you.
A shopper on Aug 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Great question! The dilution section on the product page is for customer information. We apologize for the confusion it has caused. The Black Cumin is a carrier oil and does not need to be diluted for topical application.

Thanks! -RMO Team
Does this product contain black cumin seed oil?
A shopper on Feb 1, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Great question! Yes, this oil is 100% Pure Black Cumin Seed Oil.

If this is just a carrier oil then what are the great benefits of this EO or is it not considered an EO? I am confused about the Black Cumin EO.
kim on Jul 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Great Question! More research has shown that Black Cumin is better classified as a carrier oil. This is the same oil, however, as when it was carried as an Essential Oil. It may still be used for its wonderful therapeutic benefits.
Thanks! -RMO Team
Why change from just the oil to a mix with FCO????
Joan on Dec 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The Black Cumin is the same as it was previously, however more research has been done on this oil and it is more similar to a carrier oil than an essential oil. It has not been mixed with any other oil.
I hope this helps! -RMO Team.
