German Chamomile vs Roman Chamomile

Both Chamomile oils are very safe and can be used with young children. They are different in the chemical make up, smell, color, and viscosity. Most people choose between the oils by the scent they prefer.

Roman Chamomile is a light yellow to clear color oil with low viscosity. Its aroma is fresh, sweet, fruity, herbaceous, and slightly milky.
German Chamomile is a dark blue color with high viscosity. Warm the bottle in your hand before using to decrease the viscosity. It’s aroma is warm, sweet, herbaceous and slightly woody.

AMAZING
I add RMO's German Chamomile to my jojoba oil nightly facial moisturizer (just a few drops into an ounce, as it's blue) and it's sooooo soothing! My face feels so good after. I also include it in a roller of Roman Chamomile, German Chamomile, Lavender & Cedarwood Atlas that I roll on my temples and feet before bed. It's delightful and calming and I love having such high quality oils I can feel good about rubbing them all over my face every night!

BEST ANSWER: We would suggest to dilute with a carrier oil before use. There is a general guideline of using 1-3 drops per 1 tsp of carrier oil. We do have a great dilution chart available on the website for tips.

what is the difference between German and Roman? Will be using in bath bombs.
sharron on Nov 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Both varieties of Chamomile can be used on young children but they differ in chemical makeup, smell, color and viscosity. If you are debating between the two oils, most people choose an oil according to the scent they prefer.

Roman Chamomile has a fresh, herbal, and fruity aroma and is well known for its calming effect.
German Chamomile has a sweet, herbaceous aroma and a blue hue due to the strong presence of chamazulene.
