Eucalyptus citriodora Essential Oil (Eucalyptus citriodora) is also commonly known as Gum Tree, Lemon-Scented Gum, and Corymbia Citriodora. Eucalyptus citriodora Essential Oil is characterized by its strong, fresh, sweet, and balsamic aroma presenting a top fragrance note.

Unique in scent, Eucalyptus citriodora Essential Oil has an aroma that sets it apart from other Eucalyptus species due to its fresh-squeezed lemon-citronella fragrance. Eucalyptus citriodora Essential oil is included in the Rocky Mountain Oils Wellness collection. Use of this oil helps to revitalize and invigorate in a number of applications.

Eucalyptus Essential Oil Varieties

Eucalyptus citriodora and radiata are similar in properties. However, they have a varied scent.

  • Eucalyptus citriodora’s aroma is strong, fresh, citronella-like, sweet, and balsamic. The aroma is significantly different from Eucalyptus globulus and Eucalyptus radiata as it has stronger medicinal and lemon-like notes. Eucalyptus citriodora is calming to the nervous and respiratory systems.
  • Eucalyptus radiata’s aroma is similar to Eucalyptus globulus being fresh, clean, medicinal, and slightly woody with additional sweet and fruity notes making the scent a bit softer. Eucalyptus radiata is considered the most therapeutic of the three varieties.

All varieties should not be used with children. Consider Myrtle as a safer alternative.

I knew this would be stronger smelling than the Radiata or the Globulus, boy howdy was it. I will have to use it along with some peppermint or lemon ... something to tame it down a little.

This is a great oil. Wasn’t expecting the fragrance to be so strong and similar to citronella. Personally this isn’t my favorite and much prefer other Eucalyptus oils. But the quality is still great.

I bought this particular type of eucalyptus oil knowing the scent would be a little different than the other eucalyptus oil. It has a very strong scent that unfortunately does not agree with me. I will probably just go ahead and order the other type of eucalyptus oil that RMO sells because I'm almost certain that smell will agree with me more.

Chemically, doesn’t smell like the plant.
Very potent. Smelled chemically. I was hoping for a more true eucalyptus plant smell. Any suggestions?

This is not my favorite oil. It smells a bit like bug spray. I prefer Eucalyptus Globulus. I can diffuse the two together sometimes.

How does Eucalyptus citriodora compare to Eucalyptus radiata?
A shopper on Dec 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Good question! Eucalyptus radiata has more of a menthol scent whereas Eucalyptus citriodora has a slight citrus scent and is safer to use around children 2yrs and older.
