It is always best to blend any essential oil with a carrier oil the first time you use it topically, no matter how long you have been using essential oils. This is because you do not know how the oil will react with your body chemistry. The general guideline for adult topical use is to blend 4-8 drops essential oil in 1/2 teaspoon of carrier oil. For children, you need to blend more. Here is a great chart to use as a guideline:

Children's dilution rates

Once you have used it and seen how your body chemistry reacts, you can gauge if you need to blend more or less to suit you.

Here is the link to our comparable blends page:

Comparable Blends

Keep in mind that these are comparable, so they serve the same purpose as the equivalent blends from other companies, but they may not be the exact same formula or recipe. Sometimes it will have slightly different oils and sometimes it will be nearly identical. But it will serve the same purpose.

Also, if you know which ingredients you want in the blend, you can type an ingredient or two in the search bar, and blends with those ingredients will come up in the search results.

We have worked hard to craft these blends that we think will best be used for the distinct purpose of the blend. In some cases we have found more effective ways to treat something than another company that you might be used to. We encourage you to try these blends and experience them for yourself.

Household applications for essential oils include, but are not limited to cleaning, skin carehair carebug repellent, and hygiene.

Diffusion is generally the safest way to get essential oils into the body. By various methods the oils can be dispersed into a room creating a natural aromatic experience. An effective method of diffusion is to utilize a diffuser which breaks the oil into microscopic particles that fill the room with the oils aromatic properties and can be inhaled into the lungs and absorbed into the bloodstream.

There are passive diffusers which use some kind of porous substance like felt or lava rock to hold the essential oil while it evaporates naturally. Ultrasonic diffusers have a basin of water with an ultrasonic vibrating plate at the bottom. Approximately 3-5 drops (depending on the diffuser, more or less drops may be used) are placed in the water, and the essential oil will be released into the air with a fine mist of water vapor. Nebulizer diffusers transform pure essential oils into a therapeutic, micro fine vapor and do not require ultrasonic waves, heat, or water. As much oil as is desired can be placed in the diffuser at a time, but keep in mind that these diffusers release a very powerful mist and it's best to only run them for 20 minutes at a time.

We offer a variety of diffusers backed by our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee and a manufacturer's warranty: Droplet Diffuser, Cascade Diffuser and Spring Diffuser. Keep in mind that oils that are thicker or that are diluted with carrier oil don't diffuse as effectively. Check the product labels or product pages for the Diffuse symbol.
There are a few main ways to use essential oils. Diffusion is achieved by using a diffuser which releases essential oils into the air. For a Topical application, essential oil is added to a carrier oil, such as Fractionated Coconut Oil, and is spread on the skin. There are many other Household uses which will be described below. We recommend using Fractionated Coconut Oil as it has no scent, doesn’t stain fabrics, has an indefinite shelf life, and remains a stable liquid consistency for easy blending. Because children have smaller body mass, the oils need to be diluted according to their size for topicaluse. Reference the chart below as a guideline, and when it comes to using oils on children we advise erring on the side of caution. It's best to not use the hot oils on children younger than 5. Check the product page of each product for cautions before using an oil on a child.

Our standard usage recommendations are for an adult, which is 1-3 drops of oil in ½ teaspoon carrier oil. Extra caution should be used when using oils on children under the age of 12, and the elderly as their skin is more sensitive. If ever there is a question refer to a trusted medical health professional or an aromatherapist.

For using oils on the elderly a guideline to safe usage follow dilution recommendations for a 8-12 year old child at the link above

Essential oils are becoming extremely popular worldwide, but what in the world are they? In short, essential oils are concentrated, liquid plant extracts used for therapeutic and medicinal purposes. They are called “essential” because they contain the essence of a plant, including its aroma and health properties. Since essential oils can be taken from virtually all plants, many essential oils come from various sources, including flowers, grasses, fruits, roots, trees, and leaves.
