It is always best to blend an essential oil with a carrier oil for topical application because you do not know how the oil will react with your body chemistry. The general guideline for adult topical use is to dilute at a 2-5% ratio. For children, you need to dilute at a 2% ratio. Here is a great chart to use as a guideline:

Children's dilution rates

Once you have used it and seen how your body reacts, you can gauge if you need to blend more or less to suit you.

Here is the link to our comparable blends page:

Comparable Blends

Keep in mind that these are comparable, so they serve the same purpose as the equivalent blends from other companies, but they may not be the exact same formula or recipe. Sometimes it will have slightly different oils and sometimes it will be nearly identical. But it will serve the same purpose.

Also, if you know which ingredients you want in the blend, you can type an ingredient or two in the search bar, and blends with those ingredients will come up in the search results.

We have worked hard to craft these blends that we think will best be used for the distinct purpose of the blend. In some cases we have found more effective ways to treat something than another company that you might be used to. We encourage you to try these blends and experience them for yourself.

Diffusion is generally the safest way to use essential oils. An ultrasonic diffuser breaks the oil into microscopic particles that fill the room with the oil's aromatic properties and can be inhaled into the lungs and absorbed into the bloodstream.

There are also passive diffusers available which use porous substances like felt or lava rock to hold the essential oil while it evaporates naturally.

We offer a variety of diffusers backed by our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee and a manufacturer's warranty: Droplet Diffuser, Cascade Diffuser and Spring Diffuser. Keep in mind that oils that are thicker or that are diluted with carrier oil don't diffuse as effectively. Check the product labels or product pages for the Diffuse symbol.

A carrier oil is a vegetable, nut, or seed oil that "carries" the essential oil into the skin. Some examples of carrier oils are Fractionated Coconut Oil, Jojoba oil, or Grapeseed. Many carrier oils have therapeutic properties of their own. For more information on carrier oils, review our blog article:Understanding Carrier Oils

Essential oils can be used to support the wellness of children as well as adults. Because children have smaller body mass, the oils need to be diluted according to their size for topical use. Reference the chart below as a guideline, and when it comes to using oils on children we advise erring on the side of caution. Diffusion is the safest method of use. We do not advise the ingestion of oils for children.

It's best to not use the hot oils on children younger than 5. Check the product page of each product for cautions before using an oil on a child.

Our standard usage recommendations are for an adult, which is 1-3 drops of oil in ½ teaspoon carrier oil. Extra caution should be used when using oils on children under the age of 12, and the elderly as their skin is more sensitive. If ever there is a question refer to a trusted medical health professional or an aromatherapist.

For using oils on the elderly a guideline to safe usage follow dilution recommendations for a 8-12 year old child at the link above

Essential oils are becoming extremely popular worldwide, but what exactly are they? In short, essential oils are concentrated, liquid plant extracts used for aromatic and wellness purposes. They are called “essential” because they contain the essence of a plant. Essential oils come from a variety of plant sources, including flowers, grasses, fruits, roots, trees, and leaves.
