Vetiver Essential Oil (Vetiveria zizanoides) is also commonly known as Ruh Khus, Khus, and Bunchgrass Essential Oil. It has an extremely deep earthy, woody, slightly sweet aroma presenting a base fragrance note. Vetiver is a highly viscous oil; warm it in your hand before use.

Included in perfumes and colognes with its slightly earthy yet cool scent, Vetiver Essential Oil is part of the Rocky Mountain Oils Energy and Sleep collections. Vetiver oil is often used in perfumery as a fixative.

Breathe in the scent before bedtime to help achieve a good night’s sleep, while inspiring feelings of relaxation.

In skin care applications, Vetiver Essential Oil may have a cooling effect while nourishing the skin. Apply topically before meditation for a grounding, calming effect.

Botanical Name: Vetiveria zizanoides

Plant Part: Root
Aroma: Woody, Earthy
Consistency: Thick
Blends Well With: Frankincense, Lemon, Red Mandarin, Orange, Juniper Berry, Sandalwood, Ylang Ylang

Is your Vetiver thick? Many components play a part in the viscosity (thickness) of an oil. Thicker oils typically come from the resin or root of the tree. Some oils grow thicker and more potent as they age. Because essential oils are extracted from living plants that do not follow an exact chemical formula or an exact growing pattern, each batch of the same oil can vary as well.

If you’re having problems with your oils dropping from the bottle, here are some quick tips:

1. These droppers also work best when held horizontally (to the side) instead of vertically (upside down).
2. Warm the bottle by holding in hands, placing in a bowl of warm water (to prevent damaging the label put the bottle in a ziplock bag before placing in water)
3. Widen the holes on the orifice reducer with a sterile pin
4. Take the orifice reducer off of the bottle and use a pipette.

  • Vetiver oil is used in perfumery as a fixative
  • Apply topically to the bottom of feet to bring on a grounding, calming effect
  • Can have a cooling effect to the skin
  • This oil is thick and does not diffuse easily
  • Apply topically before meditation
  • Apply topically to help achieve a good night's rest

Vetiver
I am ordering my 3rd bottle of vetiver. I love the deep earthy scent and find it calming.
Yes, it is viscous and you do need to warm it before it will drop out of the bottle. You just need to accept that.

I have never been able to get a single drop to come out of the bottle, please tell me how I can get it to come out? I'd really like to use it!

BEST ANSWER: Many components play a part in the viscosity (thickness) of an oil. Because essential oils come from a variety of plants (flowers, leaves, herbs, grasses, tree barks, etc.), they differ in viscosity, scent, and color. Thicker oils typically come from the resin or root of the tree or are extracted with the cold press method. Some oils grow thicker and more potent as they age.

Are your oils Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade (CPTG) essential oils? Do you conduct heavy metal and microbrial testing on your oils?
A shopper on Oct 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We do not use the term CPTG as this is specific to different companies. All of our essential oils are 100% pure, natural, therapeutic and organically grown. They are GMO-Free, GC/MS and Pesticide tested. For more information on the testing we conduct, please visit our quality page and our new USDA Organics.

Love your Vetiver! Why do you not use a bottle with glass wand for ease of use? I just ordered a glass bottle and wand off ebay so I can enjoy this Vetiver which is impossible to get out of bottle ...and it is inconvenient to warm up the oil each time I want to use it.
Ash H on Aug 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: We carry orifice reducing euro droppers that may help thicker oils to come out of the bottle. Unfortunately we don't carry glass wands at this time, however I will forward this information to upper management to be considered.
