German Chamomile Essential Oil (Matricaria recutita), commonly known as Blue Chamomile or Scented Mayweed, is intensely sweet and herbaceous with fruity undertones, and presents middle and base notes.

We included German Chamomile Essential Oil in our Rocky Mountain Oils Relief, Skin Care, and Sleep collections.

German Chamomile Essential Oil is one of the most gentle essential oils, suitable for use on children. Add the oil to your skin care regimen to help promote a natural glow. German Chamomile Essential Oil also has a calming effect on the emotions.

German Chamomile vs
Roman Chamomile

Both Chamomile oils are very safe and can be used with young children. They are different in their chemical make up, smell, color, and viscosity. Most people choose between the oils by the scent they prefer.

  • Roman Chamomile is a light yellow to clear color oil with low viscosity. Its aroma is fresh, sweet, fruity, herbaceous, and slightly milky.

  • German Chamomile is a dark blue color with high viscosity. Warm the bottle in your hand before using to decrease the viscosity. Its aroma is warm, sweet, herbaceous and slightly woody.

Smells ick, customer service GREAT
I cannot stand the smell. Made me nauseous immediately. I got it on my hands and went to my friends and she noticed the string smell and said something. I don’t care for it at all! However customer service was GREAT and I all I had to do was message them via the messaging option on the RMO site and I received a return label immediately. Exchanging it for Roman Chamomile in the hopes it’s a sweeter, lighter, more pleasant smell.

Love this chamomile
We weren't familiar with the different kinds of chamomile oils and had actually bought some from a couple of different companies. Boy are we glad we found Rocky Mountain Oils, finically the chamomile we were looking for. Great product, wish we hadn't wasted our money on the other brands.

what is the difference between German and Roman? Will be using in bath bombs.
sharron on Nov 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Both varieties of Chamomile can be used on young children but they differ in chemical makeup, smell, color and viscosity. If you are debating between the two oils, most people choose an oil according to the scent they prefer.

Roman Chamomile has a fresh, herbal, and fruity aroma and is well known for its calming effect.
German Chamomile has a sweet, herbaceous aroma and a blue hue due to the strong presence of chamazulene.

Is this therapeutic grade?
A shopper on Feb 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: “Therapeutic grade” is a marketing term used to describe that the essential oils are pure of contaminants, synthetics, and adulterants and can be used for therapeutic purposes. At RMO, all of our oils are 100% pure, therapeutic essential oils. We do not use fillers, synthetics or fragrance enhancers of any kind.

Using chamomile (German) to help with sleeping what would I blend it with and what ratio. Is there a recipe? Thanks
Lois
Lois K on Oct 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We would suggest to dilute with a carrier oil before use. There is a general guideline of using 1-3 drops per 1 tsp of carrier oil. We do have a great dilution chart available on the website for tips.

Can I consume this oil?
Natasha H on Sep 30, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Great question! Essential oils are very potent and can be dangerous if not used correctly.

All of our oils are 100% pure, natural, and authentic. They are of the quality to be taken internally. However, we cannot provide dosing suggestions or directions on how to ingest if you choose to do so.

If you do choose to ingest the oils, we suggest consulting an Aromatherapist or trusted health professional for guidance. Follow the link below for help finding an aromatherapist.
