What Are the Different Types of Eucalyptus Essential Oil?

While radiata is the most versatile out of the Eucalyptus oils, here is a little more information about the most common types of Eucalyptus Essentials Oils:

  • Eucalyptus radiata: Commonly known as, narrow-leaved peppermint and Forth River peppermint, this type of Eucalyptus has a gentler aroma than the other types, making it ideal for those more who have a more sensitive sense of smell.
  • Eucalyptus citriodora: This type of Eucalyptus is commonly known as lemon-scented gum and Corymbia Citriodora. A lemon, citronella-like fragrance mellows the oil’s camphor notes, making it an excellent choice for skin care purposes.
Do not use Eucalyptus Radiata Essential Oil on children under 10 years old (consider Eucalyptus citriodora or Myrtle as a safer alternative for children 2 years +). Refrain from using while pregnant or breastfeeding. Always apply Eucalyptus with a carrier oil for topical application. Click here for dilution rates.

Are all these oils pet friendly?
Lois C on Mar 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: At this time, we have found insufficient research about using essential oils on or around domestic animals, including procedures and possible reactions. Because of this lack of research, we are unable to advise how to use essential oils with pets. For more information and references, please email us at Support@rockymountainoils.com.

Can Eucalyptus oil be ingested if diluted?
Carolyn H on May 19, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Rocky Mountain Oils feels that essential oils are very potent and can be dangerous if not used correctly. All of our oils are 100% pure, natural, and authentic. They are of the quality to ingest. However, we cannot provide dosing suggestions or directions on how to ingest if you choose to do so. If you do choose to ingest the oils, we suggest consulting an Aromatherapist or trusted health professional for guidance.

A shopper on Feb 21, 2018
BEST ANSWER: We apologize for the confusion. Our current Eucalyptus Radiata is from South Africa. The photo was missed when switching the country of origin. We will inform our marketing department so that they can correct the issue.

What is the difference between Eucalyptus Radiata and Eucalyptus Citriodora?
christmaslover on Dec 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Great question! Both Eucalyptus citriodora, and radiata carry similar properties and therapeutic functions. The difference is mainly in the regions where they are grown, resulting in a variation in scent and chemical components. Eucalyptus radiata is actually the most common variety of Eucalyptus that we offer.

Why is this oil not recommended for children?
SarahJane on Nov 3, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hello!

We do understand the importance of keeping our families healthy by using natural remedies. However, are there some safety precautions to be aware of when using essential oils around young children. This constituent can potentially cause respiration to slow in younger children. Because of the risk of the child inhaling the mist through the nose/mouth and into the lungs when diffusing, is the reason for the caution.

Thanks!

Do you carry a larger size?
Mary Diane B on Dec 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The largest bottle size we offer is a 15ml bottle. We do this so we can offer a comfortable price point for our customers while providing sufficient oil to last an extended period of time. We do not sell larger sizes.

Thanks-
