No more DEET for us-
Rub it on the bottom of your feet, wait a couple of minutes, you are good to go- easily dispersed thruout your body. Bugs go the other direction - lasts for hours, even in the evening-

You need to spray it EVERYWHERE really well, but it does work if you spray every inch of yourself. I bought this one because my son is asthmatic and Bug Away has an oil that can upset asthmatics.

Like the smell. Made into bug spray using RMO recipe. Spray it on my legs and feet before I take my dogs out in the morning and suddenly no more bug bites!

Works great outdoors
I just rub a couple of drops straight from the bottle onto my exposed skin to stop insect bites while I am outside. Thank goodness I don't have any indoors!!

Bug away
I purchased this product to help with an active 2 yr old and the enjoyment we have in the backyard. It has taken a bit of experimentation to get the drops to liquid ratio, cautious since is a 2 yo. Does need to be reapplied every 2-3 hrs. Smells better than the leading bug repellent's. :)

What is the difference between Bug Off and Bug Away Neat?
Whitney H on Jun 15, 2017
Bug Away Neat
Bug Away Neat
Bug Off!
Bug Off!
BEST ANSWER: The difference is in the ingredients. Bug Off! is meant to be used topically on adults and contains Citronella, Cedarwood, Lavender, Peppermint, Eucalyptus radiata, Eucalyptus citriodora, Thyme, and Lemongrass.

Bug Away neat is the undiluted version of our Kids Line Roll On that is pre diluted for children 2 years +. Bug Away contains Citronella, Cedarwood Atlas, Lavender, Lemongrass, Thyme.
What does "neat" mean in the blends? In the buy section some oils have the option to be purchased as a blend or neat? Not asking about bug off as all the questions on here pertain to that particular one. Just "neat"
Crystal M. on Jan 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Neat Is an undiluted oil. So if you were going to apply it directly to your skin you would want to add some sort of carrier oil. The blends often already contain a carrier oil so they are already diluted and you could apply a blend directly onto your skin from the bottle. So the neat is a concentration volume which is why you’ll see a smalller volume for an increased price.
Can you use Bug Off! on kids? Which would be best to use on both children and adults? And is one more effective than the other?
Miriam on Jul 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Bug Off! is great for adults but Bug Away would be the best blend to use for children and adults.
How do you recommend making this into a spray? For room sprays I use water and 1 Tbsp alcohol. I want to spray this on my skin and use it on my kids (2 &4) as well.
Julie on Jun 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We do have a great recipe on our Blog that you may find helpful. https://www.rockymountainoils.com/learn/bugs-away/
What makes this blend neat?
A shopper on Jun 18, 2017
BEST ANSWER: What makes this neat is that it needs to be diluted. If one orders a whiskey, or bourbon, 'neat' it means with no ice or water (or maybe on the side). I used to be a waitress, so immediately knew what 'neat' meant, but can see how it might be confusing otherwise. No dilution, you dilute yourself with a carrier oil such as coconut oil.
I ordered & received your product "Bug Off". It does not come with instructions on how to us it. What do you recommend?
Pam Z on May 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We would recommend checking out the product page as well as our Blog for usage tips.

Can this be diffused outside?
A shopper on Apr 22, 2018

You are able to diffuse the oils outside, however, it may not be as effective if you were to diffuse the oils in a closed area. Please be sure to check the foot coverage of each oil diffuser to make sure how far the distance would be.

If I wanted to use this, after diluting, does it only need to go on a small space on the body, or on any exposed skin?
Amanda H. on Mar 1, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The Bug Away blend is intended to be used to replace any commercial bug spray. To be sure that there is appropriate coverage and protection, it is suggested to apply to any exposed skin as you would with a commercial bug spray.
