Tea Tree vs Niaouli (Melaleuca)

  • Tea Tree’s aroma is fresh, medicinal, earthy, and herbaceous. Tea Tree is stronger than Niaouli and may not be as suited for sensitive skin. Tea Tree is safe for children 2+ when properly diluted.

This has a nice crisp scent. Sometimes I feel a nice tingle in my nose when I breathe the scent in while using my diffuser, but otherwise nothing else too wild.

Thank you for distinguishing between tea tree an malaleuca
I don't know why doterra thinks these are the same thing, but they're not. They have similar terpene profiles and are morphologically similar, but they are different plants with different benefits/risks.

My husband and I use this in our homemade deodorant--works well! Smells nice (but not overbearing), kills bacteria that cause odor, and doesn't contain harmful chemicals like most deodorants. He mixes his with magnesium spray, I usually just dab a drop onto a cloth and rub it in as needed (and I don't often have BO issues since going off of typical deodorant.) This is a staple in our home.

Can I deluge with water and spray plants to deter bugs?
A shopper on Jul 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes. My plants had fungus gnats. I mixed about 10 drops of tea tree oil and 10 drops of lavender oil in a half gallon of warm water and drenched my plants. It worked immediately, but, I had to reapply a few times. When I reapplied, I just put the mix in a spray bottle and sprayed the soil.
How to get rid of roaches?
A shopper on Jul 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We have not had much feedback about using Tea Tree to repel roaches. However, Tea Tree is commonly used in DIY cleaning recipes so it could work great!
